Another fabulous story Geoffrey, thanks for sharing. You are very lucky, I’ve been left with boxes of photos that I can’t identify. My sister was left them by my mother and she probably knew who a lot of them were because she lived with mum a lot longer than I did. But then my sister died suddenly and I had no time to find who is who. Thanks for sharing.

What a treasure trove of fascinating history and people. Given the timing of your great-grandfather's immigration, I'm guessing things must have been very hard for them in Sweden. Or perhaps he did not expect a new arrival to be conscripted.
